我校来了一个外教,请我做乒乓球教练(free),已经练了两次,可怜我对乒乓球的英文所知甚少(我教中学数学的),表达起来非常费力。
请各位大虾赐教。

Morning Lesson
Time: 8:00-9:30 AM
Location: Deano's Place
Dean and I played for 90 minutes focusing on fine tuning his forehand drive and backhand opening. We reviewed many of the tips from the night before in the clinic and dealt with a number of questions that Dean had after the recent Cary tournament. Dean is clearly getting more comfortable with executing a game and point plan against higher and higher rated players. While his off the table game is consistent, we both agreed that he could do better slightly closer to the table to help cut off the angles and reduce the overall footwork needed to stay on the offense. Keys to remember when flipping on the forehand side are to get to the side of the ball and not step in directly behind the ball. By getting to the side of the ball you allow yourself to flip either down the line or crosscourt with ease. Also you must step out after completing the stroke and to get back into ready position.
We also worked on the exact type of footwork necessary to step around the backhand or to move out to the forehand. In general, when moving the more steps you can take the better as smaller steps will help keep you balanced. Of course if you have to cover 6 to 8 feet you will need to take a big step or two but using good eye-foot coordination will reduce the likelihood of overshooting or undershooting where your body should be as you get ready to hit the ball. Another key to remember is that your final step of your footwork on the forehand side should be your right foot. This will help make sure the weight is on your back foot to allow for correct weight transfer. After each shot you should reset your feet so you are balanced and ready to move in any direction like a guard in basketball.
Afterwards Dean played Ed a match and won convincingly as Ed was still half asleep and having trouble with his execution on the forehand side.

虽然使用了金山词霸,但是还看不明白,比如这几个词不懂
forehand drive 正手什么??
backhand opening 反手什么?
eye-foot 调整步?或者小跳步?
Power Tip
Weight Transfer
One of the most frequent questions I get is, "How do I get more power on all my shots." Swinging harder is not the solution, any golfer will tell you that! What you need to do is to get your entire body moving in the direction of where you want the ball to go. The easiest way is to make sure your weight is being transferred forward at the point of contact. This will require quite a bit of strength to recover on the follow through to get back to ready position.
When hitting forehand to forehand practice shifting your weight forward with each shot to get a sense of the movement. Watch players like Kong Linghui and Jan Ove Waldner to see great weight transfer.
Power Tip
Flip for placement
Most flips that miss are often due to players going for too much versus going for too little. It seems many wants to win the point with one quick and powerful stroke instead of working for the point off the opponent's serve.
From my experience the best players flip with accuracy as their primary concern and focused at aiming to the weakest areas of their opponent. Going for a power winner is usually only done off a high or miss hit service. One important key is to step in quickly so you have a choice to drop the ball short or to flip it. If you are unsure where to flip to, try the your opponent's forehand pocket or a wide angle. If your flips are getting easily attacked, mix in a short drop shot before adding more power to your flip.
Power Tip
Finish the point
Whenever you get nets or edges during practice, finish the "point" as you would in a real game or match. You can never emulate a net or edge ball, it is not something you can have a structured practice on, so, at all costs, try to retrieve all nets and edges in practice. It will strengthen your ability to handle them when they really happen.
